What Is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is the science of doing life, of designing and living a life of fulfillment; it is the art of living with everlasting peace, happiness, and joy, with one’s full, active commitment to success, growth, and freedom. A life coach facilitates this total transformation by providing tools, guidance, and motivation, and by revealing the true power that resides within you.
So, if you’re struggling to reach your goal in a timely, productive, and healthy manner, a life coach can empower you to get back on the right path. Just like a sports coach, a life coach is that mentor in your corner who’s always there to motivate you, challenge you when you’re getting in your own way, and give you the tools you need to keep your eye on the prize.
Mindset + Plan + Active Commitment = Required Results
I can show you the baby steps to achieving your goal, applying enhancement on the state of being and getting to the blocking paradigm. Next, I can help you alter it to a more empowering one so better results start to manifest in your life.
As a third-party observer with all the required knowledge, techniques, and abilities, a life coach can hold up a mirror that reflects the side of you that you can’t see or access. You’ll discover the limitless possibilities and the greatest version of yourself that you might not know exists!
In the above formula, the “mindset” is the self: who you think you are, how your mind is conditioned, what the limiting blocks are and where they come from. All those questions will be clarified and altered into a more empowering mindset. Its weight is 70% of the formula.
The “plan” represents the how: what are the step-by-step actions you need to take to achieve your goal? This is based on the analysis of where you are today and where you would like to reach. Its weight is 10% of the formula.
The “active commitment” is your commitment to change and to your dream: when you start to commit to your plan with daily involvement and self-approach, your results will definitely blow your mind! Its weight is 20% of the formula.
What Does a Life Coach Do?
Essentially, the primary focus of a life coach is to build a plan and help you stick to it. It’s all about action and accountability.
If your biggest desire is more conceptual, such as financial stability, a healthier body, or better communication skills, a life coach can sharpen your focus and shift this desire into an actionable and tangible goal. Once we figure out what it is you truly want, a life coach makes sure you stay true to your objective.
You may find that a life coach doesn’t show you anything you don’t already know. But you will find a fresh perspective on your approach, which helps you see your desires in a whole new way. In that same regard, a life coach will quickly determine your weak points that may be hindering your personal growth.
Keeping you accountable by assigning you regular tasks (or homework) and challenging your negative self-talk is part of the coaching process that is designed to ultimately raise your self-awareness of your thoughts and behaviours that have stopped you in the past.
How Does Life Coaching Work?
After the initial consultation, assessment, and signing of the agreement, you can expect regular one-on-one (virtual or in-person) meetings that occur on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, depending on your needs.
If you decide that a Montreal life coach is right for you, we will start with an assessment, where I get to learn more about your personal goals. Even if you aren’t sure exactly what it is that you want to achieve (or if you can’t exactly put it into words) I will ask you specific questions that are designed to bring to light what it is that you’re truly seeking. This assessment stage is crucial for developing a personalized and action-oriented plan. You can expect questions about:
- Your personal goals
- Your core values
- Your strengths and weaknesses
- The things in life that matter to you
Following the assessment, I will design a plan and assign you regular tasks. Your willingness to take responsibility for your results and be challenged on your negative beliefs means that you are ready to take this journey. The only thing left for you to do is to commit to the process.
When to Call a Life Coach
We all want something. Whether it’s more money, a healthier physique, a fulfilling job, a loving partner, more clarity or alignment, self-love or self-control. If you have a burning desire within you and you feel that there is something bigger out there, take the side of your heart and let your greater version that is calling you emerge.
If you’ve wanted something for a long time and feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to reach the finish line, it may be time to ask for a little outside help. Discovering what it is that you truly want is only the first step in the process.
Along the way, it’s perfectly normal to slip back into your old patterns or feel the ups and downs of life. But as your life coach, I want to see you succeed. Supporting you may take the form of challenging you when I see that you’re getting in the way of your own success. How do we get in our own way? These are common barriers or reasons to work with a life coach:
- When you feel lost in one or many aspects of your life, such as your career or relationship, or if you find yourself thinking “what should I do?”
- When your procrastination or indecision has led to missed opportunities or positive outcomes because of an “inability” to take action.
- When negative thoughts, painful memories, fear, or self-doubt run the show, i.e., “I’m not good enough”
- When your poor organizational skills or lack of focus are impeding your ability to start your business, kick-start a creative project, or reach other goals
- When your unhealthy habits are consuming your time and quality of life, such as:
- Excessive drinking or drug-taking
- Binge eating or eating unhealthy food
- Spending too much time on your phone or in front of the TV
- When you’re facing a major change in your life (a new job, a move to a new city, the beginning or end of a relationship, etc.)
As an action-oriented process, there is simply no time to get in your own way. Life Coaching is about achieving desired results. Whatever you’re seeking, you can expect me to hold up a mirror to these barriers. This process not only raises your self-awareness in general but also helps make your goals seem much more achievable.

My Life Coaching Sessions
in Montreal During COVID-19
The coronavirus pandemic has made many of us take a good look at our lives. Some of us have taken the time during lockdown to reassess our core values, our careers, and what we want out of life in general. It has never been more important to unleash our creativity and go after the things that really matter.
Under normal circumstances, our one-on-one sessions will take place in person. Until then, I am happy to offer Life Coaching sessions via video conferencing using Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Our routine video sessions will be followed up by emails and phone calls. After the lockdown period, I’d be more than happy to reassess our meeting arrangement.
